Considering the language situation in Algeria and the Kingdom of Morocco, the author reveals the potential of bilingualism as a factor in the sociocultural dynamics of society, contributing to the dynamic development of these countries by introducing citizens to the global cultural, scientific and technical achievements. It has been proved that Algeria and Morocco have a similar scenario of linguistic determination, which is a consequence of the French colonial past. Bilingualism in these states is not limited to the Arab-Berber bilingualism officially enshrined in their Constitutions, which functions as a factor in the self-identification of indigenous peoples, but is of a complex, multifaceted nature. On the territory of these states, the French language is used alongside with Arabic, since long after the division of the African continent these countries were in colonial dependence on France. The paper examines the modern linguistic situation, considers its risks and prospects. It has been estimated that the existing linguistic tradition contributes to a higher level of development and competitiveness of Algerian and Moroccan societies, thereby determining the spiritual, intellectual and economic advantage of the nations.
