The article is devoted to the analysis of the concept of culture created by N.K. Roerich, and its correlation with cultural and philosophical ideas of the early twentieth century (perception of culture as memory, broad interpretation of the term “creativity”, etc.). The author notes that this concept should be considered as the result of a combination of Eastern, Western and domestic traditions. It is emphasized that the Eastern tradition is manifested, in particular, in the way the philosopher presents his teachings, the basis of which is the poetry of the language. When analyzing the main provisions of the concept of culture N.K. Roerich, the author dwells on his attitude to the terms “civilization” and “culture”, which act as antipodes for him. The article shows the importance of the ecological-cultural approach in the concept of N.K. Roerich, the reasons for the actualization of the neo-Russian tradition in his work.
