Castilian language and the regional languages of Spain: Characteristics of bilingualism and hybridization (OPEN ACCESS)

Abstract

The author of the article explores the linguistic polyphony of Spain through the prism of bilingualism and hybridization. Analysis of hierarchical organization of languages on territory of the country, envisaged in the Constitution, and its contradictory modifications in time and space shows how changing the ratio of the dominant Castilian language and regional languages in the context of language contacts and hybridization processes.
