Abstract

This article efforts to identify several types of royal figures in the Qumran texts, paying particular attention to the mystical understanding of this one. The texts that were selected for consideration are as follows: the Damascus Document, the Temple Scroll, the Florilegium, the Commentary on the Book of Genesis, the Commentary on the Book of Isaiah, the Blessing of the Fathers, the Messianic Leader, and the Messianic Apocalypse. Demonstrating that the Qumran community had multiple images of the ruler is something we can do. It was revealed that Davidʼs narrative was dependent on the positive description of the royal figure. This figure started to take on the characteristics of the Other in Judaism, becoming sacralized.
