The paper studies a modern tendency towards science popularization with the help of an ecological linguacognitive strategy – conceptual metaphor. Metaphors from the field of astrophysics are analyzed, and general principles of ecological science conceptualization are revealed. The study concludes that conventional metaphor groups – anthropomorphic, artefact, and landscape – possess the highest discursive potential due to versatility of their salient features and better comprehension by a broad audience.
