Collective individual of Paul Auster (on the example of the novel «The New York trilogy») (OPEN ACCESS)

Abstract

Article reveals the summary of origin new the stage of development of the American literature expressed in emergence of new type of the hero with characteristic signs of «the collective individual» is made. Its emergence is characterized by merge philosophical and literary categories that is most brightly shown in «The New York trilogy» of Paul Auster. Research represents a new view on the person (character) in the society.Innovative for the American literature the view on the reader as the person capable to make spiritual jump from the idea a selectness of the USA to sacral truth of vision of the American nation as parts of mankind. Work is based on works of the Russian philosophers, supporters of intuitionalism (N.O. Lossky) and gnoseology (N.A. Berdyaev).
