Abstract

In the modern world, the task of building positive relations between followers of different religions, which can be denoted by the term «interreligious dialogue», acquires particular relevance. The first part of the article discusses the main types of interreligious dialogue: «polemical», «peacemaking», «cognitive» and «partnership». The second part describes the activities of the Interreligious Council of Russia. In the third part, from the point of view of the official position of religious communities of Russia, questions of the correlation between national, civil and religious identities are analyzed. The analysis shows that religious identity is the main thing for a believer, however, it is not opposed to civil identity and does not conflict it; the two of them are able to harmoniously combine and complement each other. Civil identity should be rooted in the extant fundamental religious identities, which can become a solid foundation for harmonious interethnic relations.
