On the basis of M. Tsvetaeva’s diaries, the author considers the methods used by the requisitioning detachments of the «revolutionaries» in 1917. The author argues that those were actually acts of looting from the population, when both food products and valuables, primarily gold, were confiscated. The paper looks into the psychology of the people who carried out those acts, considers their nationality, social origin, formation of values, and characters.
