The «inner» and the «outer» in the theatrical systems and concepts of actors’ techniques: The psychophysiological and language aspects (OPEN ACCESS)

E.O. Oparina

Abstract

In this article I analyze metaphorical conceptualization of psychological (emotional) and technical sides of actor’s work in theatre discourse. The emotional aspect is denoted as «the inner», and technical devices – as «the outer». Their correlation is one of the central items in the theory and practice of Western (including Russian) theatre. Different approaches to it, to a great extent, created different models of theatre in the 20 th century.

Keywords

metaphor; theatre discourse; theatre concepts (systems); «the inner» and «the outer» in actor’s scene performance
