The article presents an analysis of metaphor in object-oriented ontology (hereinafter OOO) and discusses the possibility of its application in art and science. The basis for analyzing the effectiveness of metaphor and the horizons of its understanding is the presence of contradictions in G. Harmanʼs argumentation. In art, the theory of “weird formalism” is considered, and its applicability is tested both in relation to art as a whole and to a specific work of art. It is emphasized that the OOO does not have technical and methodological tools to describe particular arts. In this regard, interaction between theoretical positioning and practical applicability is problema-tized. In relation to science, the legitimacy of OOO as a new “theory of everything” is considered.
