V.V. Vinogradov’s Russian language institute of the Russian academy of sciences, Moscow, Russia
The paper argues that the greatest specificity of everyday forms of speech in general and their vocabulary in particular manifests itself in nominations of human life and activities – everyday life, nutrition, health, physical and mental state, relations with other people. Words related to these areas of human life are as a rule evaluative: the word not only denominates the object, action, or property, but also contains evaluation (mostly negative). The paper provides examples of colloquial, non-verbal and slang words, whose definitions are presented in the «Explanatory dictionary of Russian everyday speech», compiled by the researchers of V.V. Vinogradov’s Russian language institute of the Russian academy of sciences under the guidance of the paper author.
