The image of the legendary Shambhala in the legacy of N.K. Roerich (OPEN ACCESS)

Abstract

The article analyzes the phenomenon of Shambhala as a cultural, historical, social image reflected in the literary and artistic works of N.K. Roerich. The ideas and conclusions of N.K. Roerich are correlated with the judgments of other scien- tists investigating the Shambhala phenomenon. The study of the culture and history of the peoples of Asia, the ways of their resettlement, as well as the mythological component, allowed N.K. Roerich to come to a conclusion about the real territorial location of Shambhala on Earth.
