The article focuses on referent conceptualization operations as part of the process of direct and indirect naming and considers the specifics of cognitive referent construal. Inferential and bodily-inferential operations are given detailed analysis; furthermore, the dominant role of inferential component in defining the name status is shown. The study of conceptualization operations has enabled the author to outline the referential parameters that help differentiate direct and indirect names in text.
