The article is devoted to the consideration of the concept “I – Other” and the test of the identity of “I”. Particular attention is paid to the ontological status of art as a self-sufficient reality, alternative to existing existence. The substantiation of a literary text as a full-fledged participant in a productive dialogue is given. Communication with art is always a deeply intimate dialogue that has no end. Thus, the unattainability of the identity of “I” and the infinity of the process of self-realization of a person are argued.
