The article discusses the research into the addressee’s perception of texts belonging to the English legal discourse. Comments on the texts about human rights and the law made by Twitter microblog users are analyzed with the purpose of revealing basic socio-cultural values of both the author and the addressee. The analysis applies the principles of the “counter text” method used in everyday communication. The conclusion is made that the specificity of Internet communication as a subjective-evaluative and emotional form is the dominating addressee playing the role of the author at the same time.
