The paper examines the formation context, plot and poetic elements of exofiction as a new literary genre. Having emerged in the early 21st century as a response to popular autobiographical subgenres, exofiction has become one of the most common genres in modern French writing. Exofiction delineates new avenues of fictionalizing biographies of historical figures and re-narrativizing various stages of the historical past.
