The author analyzes the influence of culture and cultural values on the use of the landscape terms in Mexico and Colombia. The purpose of the article is to identify the cultural identity and value judgements that define Latin Americans and demonstrate their influence on the choice of speech means during communication and explain the origin of the lexical units in Mexican and Colombian variants of the Spanish language. This article gives an outline of such terms as «mexicanism» and «colombism». Examples of written and spoken speech, such as folklore and colloquial speech, were used as material for the analysis.
