Abstract

The paper provides an analysis of social and psychological effects of cyberbullying and online insults. The gravity of injury is greater than previously assumed in studies of destruction of important social relationships and the reputation of a person. The consequences of public insults can be described in terms of the narcissistic trauma of rejection. Narcissism is presented as a social epidemic. Some of the most obvious ways of psychological protection against public insults are described.
