Abstract

The article deals with the philosophic problems of symbol, sign and their role in literature for youth and children. Using the concepts of prominent thinkers, C.G. Yung, M. Heidegger and U. Eco among others, for example the concept reader/text, the author tries to show how important are the symbols for young readers and for their Paideia as the main aim of education, how they further creativity, humanity, kindness and other important qualities. For this purpose author analysis several books of fiction authors from many countries of the world C.M. Gaite, S. Gandolfi, A. Fine, U. Evo, M. Parr with their easy but impressive and memorable symbols – the Statue of Liberty, Little Riding Hood, Sun, Heart and Tortoise.
